# Olum > Olum is a platform that tracks and improves how a business gets found in two > places at once: traditional search engines like Google, and AI answer engines > like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google's AI Overviews. It crawls your > site, connects to your existing Google Search Console and Analytics accounts, > runs a technical audit, and then probes AI platforms with real buyer questions > to check whether your business gets cited in the answer. Olum calls the second half of that GEO — Generative Engine Optimization: earning a citation from an AI system rather than a ranking on a results page. Every claim below is a description of shipped product behaviour. ## What Olum does - **Crawls and audits a site.** A preflight browser check confirms pages are fetchable and renderable before the full crawl runs, catching noindex tags, X-Robots-Tag headers, robots.txt blocks, and pages that render blank to bots. The audit scores four pillars: crawlability, Core Web Vitals, schema coverage, and on-page structure, with real PageSpeed Insights data for mobile and desktop. - **Reads Google Search Console and Analytics 4.** Clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position against a prior period; sessions, users, new users, bounce rate, and engagement. Flags quick wins, striking-distance terms, and erosion. - **Probes AI answer engines.** Real buyer questions are sent to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews, and Bing. Each result records whether the site was cited, the citation's position and strength, and a confidence value. Probes repeat over time so results read as a trend. - **Builds an answer-coverage matrix.** Every tested question × platform is marked answered, partial, not answered, or not tracked — so gaps are visible by design rather than absent by omission. - **Tracks citations over time.** A cumulative ledger tags every citation ever observed as new, retained, or dropped, distinguishing a citation never held from one lost. - **Listens to real demand.** Public Reddit and Quora discussion is matched to specific pages and services, with a compliance score for engaging in each community. - **Analyses competitors twice over.** Classic company profiles, plus which domains AI engines actually cite in the category and whether that is trending. - **Generates the fix.** Every issue carries remediation — a ready-to-paste JSON-LD block, a config change, or ordered steps. Gap actions name the lever most likely to close a missed citation: content, schema, entity, authority, or freshness. Blog and social drafts are generated but never auto-published. ## How Olum handles uncertainty AI answer engines are non-deterministic: the same question can return different citations depending on the day, region, or model version. Olum labels every figure by how much weight it carries — exact (read from Google Search Console or Analytics, reproducible), derived (calculated from exact inputs, method disclosed), or directional (sampled from AI engines; the trend is meaningful, the absolute number is not). Movements below half a percent are reported as flat rather than as a trend. Olum does not promise or forecast rankings. ## Known limitations Stated plainly, because accuracy matters more than positioning: - **No conversion or revenue reporting.** Google Analytics is read for traffic and engagement only; goal and e-commerce events are not connected, so Olum cannot currently attribute revenue to its work. - **No backlink or domain-authority data.** Olum does not collect it.
